Gold Rush

The gold miners in the California Gold rush of the 1840’s needed a cocktail to take the edge off of a hard day’s mining. This wasn’t it as it wasn’t invented until this century, but they would have liked it. The honey syrup is made with a half and half blend of honey and warm water, stir to dissolve. Adjust the bourbon or rye to your liking. It’s a nice change from the basic Whiskey Sour.

GOLD RUSH

2 oz Bourbon (your favorite)
3/4 oz Lemon Juice (fresh)
3/4 oz Honey Syrup
This quick cocktail uses your choice of bourbon to determine the flavor profile: wheated bourbon for more balanced notes, or high-proof, rye-forward for more spice notes. Honey syrup is 1/2 honey, 1/2 warm water, stirred to dissolve. Combine all ingredients, shake and strain.
